Education
The Big White Ski Resort has over 100 instructors for every level of skiing and snowboarding. Should you be seeking more conventional schooling, the nearby city of Kelowna (35 miles northwest) is home to an excellent range of private, public, French immersion, and Montessori schools. Public schools in the area are served by School District 23 Central Okanagan or School District 93 Conseil scolaire francophone. For post-secondary schooling, the University of British Columbia has a campus located in North Kelowna. Additional opportunities include the Okanagan College (previously known as the Okanagan University College) and Sprott-Shaw Community College.

Recreation
Big White is the second largest ski resort in British Columbia and one of the largest in North America. Some of the resort's specialties include Olympic-level runs, as well as the best night-skiing in North America. The resort has over 118 runs, as well as 5 bowls, a terrain park, tube park, skating rink, snowmobile track and 16 lifts! The village is home to eighteen different restaurants, delis, and lounges. Several of the better-known venues include the Kettle Valley Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Snowshoe Sam's, the Soup Stone Café and Bistro, and the Big White Bakery. The village also has a grocery store and liquor store. Big White's proximity to Kelowna (a city of over 100,000 people) ensures that whatever you can't find in the village, you're only an hour away from by car.
